Guidelines for setting up and sending files:

Final trim sizes of your printed piece are the sizes you should be using in your document setup window in the page layout program. All documents should be built to print at 100% size. Trim marks and registration marks will automatically be created when the job is imaged. Printed pieces with multiple pages should be set up in reader spreads (spreads box checked in page setup) as one document only. All areas with bleeds should have graphics or text boxes dragged open at least 1/8" past the edge in which it bleeds. Do not build pages to bleed size of the printed piece. If you are creating a layout with a word-processing program (such as Microsoft Word), please providea high resolution, print-quality PDF (with bleeds and trim marks) in the document. If the design of your piece involves glue flaps or pockets (die cutting) please call for advice on how best to layout your document.

When supplying scans, save them in CMYK mode. When saving EPS files do not check halftone screens or transfer functions. Please be sure that resolution is 300 dpi at full reproduction size. B&W bitmap mode scans should be at least double that resolution (600 dpi to size). Generally, a graphic or photo taken from an Internet website is not suitable for printing, because the resolution is only 72 dpi. If you choose to take advantage of our high-end scanning capabilities, please provide us with full size laser printouts showing position and cropping.

Number of colors used should be kept consistent between applications when creating your files. When creating a 4 color file with your page layout program, the CMYK color model should also be used within your image and drawing files. If PMS colors are to be specified as process colors, please set them to separate to process within the application.

Please do not attempt to trap your files. Our ripping software will trap them for you.

Please supply all fonts used to create your files. Type 1/postscript fonts are preferred. Stylizing fonts in page layout programs (using the Bold, Italic, or Underline options, etc.) without the necessary printer fonts may cause problems when imaging and should be avoided.

Please provide a final updated laser or inkjet proof with all documents to be printed. Color proofs are preferred, but when unavailable, please provide B&W proofs with proper color breaks indicated. When possible, run proofs at 100% or indicate % run on proof. Please proofread your proofs carefully and rerun final updated proofs, if last minute changes are necessary. We rely on the final proofs for accuracy. Please take the time to review your proofs to ensure absolute accuracy. A correct proof saves time and additional expense.

We can accept files on CD/DVD, email, or via our FTP site. When sending files as email attachments or FTP downloads, please use Stuffit or WinZip to compress all your files into one folder. Instructions to access our FTP site can emailed to you from our prepress or sales department.

Along with your fonts, please include all support files used to create your documents. This includes original files from which you have created EPS files. This will allow us to make modifications to these files if it becomes necessary. To check that all the necessary items have been copied to the disk, please open your files from that disk and see that they update properly. Please do not send any additional items on your disk that do not pertain to the files we are to print for you, and be sure you have copies of everything sent us. PLEASE DO NOT SEND US ORIGINALS. After you have carefully reviewed your files, please print a laser copy of your disk directory and send it along with your disk.
