What is Letterpress?

Letterpress printing dates back to the mid 15th century and is the oldest method of commercial printing. Raised type is inked using rollers and, when put in contact with the sheet, is impressed into the surface of the sheet. While the earliest type used was made of wood and later metal, today’s letterpress printing makes use of metal “cuts” or photopolymer plates. These plates, created from digital artwork, make it possible to letterpress print your custom images and artwork while still achieving the classic effect of letterpress printing.
